What am I committing to as a company?

There is no long-term commitment when you offer this Plan to your employees.

There is a Group Agreement which does need to be completed and signed. This form establishes your Group's membership guidelines and provides a 12 month rate guarantee.

Note also, there are no employer fees, such as set-up fees or monthly service fees.

How long has CARE
INGTON been in business?

Founded by a group of dentists in 1979, CAREINGTON is one of the oldest and largest dental plans in the U.S.A.

Because CAREINGTON was among the first to offer a quality discount dental program, they have had years to develop an extensive provider panel, with over 30,000 participating dentists today. In fact, the provider panel is one of the strongest in the country. Not only do they offer an extensive selection of doctors, but the credentialing system guarantees that CAREINGTON dentists have only the finest credentials. Also give the healthiest fee reductions - larger than many dental service companies.

With over 5 million satisfied members and growing, CAREINGTON has positioned itself to be the most innovative dental partner in the country!

Do we have to offer this as a payroll deduction program?

No, you do not. You can have employees complete individual applications and pay directly but . . . . .

bulletYou lose the tax advantage of offering a dental plan through your company.
bulletYou make it harder for employees to obtain dental. Payroll deduction is easy for employees .
bulletThe employees will have a higher monthly fee as well as a one time processing fee.
bulletOffering a dental program contributes to an attractive incentive program.

What are the plan restrictions?

Your employees must go to a participating CAREINGTON Plan dentist on the list. The CAREINGTON dentists are carefully screened, credentialed, and selected in order to ensure that your employees are given a choice of some of the finest dentists in your area.

For employees and their families, here is quality dental care at an affordable price. Most dental plans are very expensive. Having an expensive dental plan for your employees is fine if the employer is paying all. Unfortunately employers are unable to add dental, mainly because of cost issues.

Answers on how to use the plan:

How do my employees use the plan?

When the plan begins, employees may contact a provider on the provider list and make an appointment.

They should take either their permanent ID card or temporary ID card that will be e-mailed to the employer. If no ID card is available, the employee simply needs some form of picture ID along with their social security number. The dentist office will call CAREINGTON to verify the employee's membership. (In fact, employees do not need a card to receive services, only the group member number or the employee's social security number, plus some form of identification. The plan is very easy to use.)

Employees will then only pay according to the Schedule of Discounts, which are listed by ADA code (American Dental Association). The average annual savings is $1200 per family on dental work.

What if I want to change dentists?

You are free to seek care from any participating dentist in the network. If you wish to change dentists, simply call the new dental office for an appointment and let them know that you are a current CAREINGTON plan member.

Note: ordinarily, you should complete procedures in progress (if any) by your current dentist, because most dental offices do not want to take over another dentist's unfinished work.

What qualifications determine if a dentist is able to join our Provider Panel?

Dentists must meet CAREINGTON's highly selective credentialing process which is based on education, background, location, office facilities, and other requirements.

[ Top ]

An employee's dentist isn't currently on the Provider Panel. What can I do?

Have the dentist call CAREINGTON at 800-290-0523 and ask for a new provider packet from the Network Development Department. While they do not guarantee that a provider will join the plan, we have found that when a provider initiates the process, then the chances of success is much greater.

Please be aware that the credentialing and qualifying period can take time, sometimes as long as six months, depending on the speed of response from the dentist.

What type of emergency service is available through CARE
INGTON?

In case of an emergency, a Member should contact their usual network dentist. If he/she is unavailable, contact Member Services and they will assist you in locating another provider.

Members may use a participating dentist anywhere in the U.S.A.

Can the CARE
INGTON Plan work with dental insurance plans?

Yes, CAREINGTON can work (or "coordinate") with dental insurance plans. Here's how:

1. First, the member receives dental services through a CAREINGTON participating Dentist at substantially discounted fees (20% - 60%).

2. Next, after paying the reduced fees, the member files a claim with their dental insurance plan for fee reimbursement.

If you are having major dental work, where the cost will exceed the annual dollar-limit of your dental insurance plan, then CAREINGTON may in effect extend your insurance benefits by first decreasing the total dollar-cost of your dental work.

Note: CAREINGTON will not work (or coordinate) with another "discount dental plan," only with "dental insurance" as described above.

How to add or drop members after the annual processing date?

Your employee needs to include family members now. They can add/drop family members if they have a change in family status like marriage, divorce, birth of a child, responsibility for a child because of divorce decree, adoption, etc..

A Group Change Form (.pdf) should be completed and sent to CAREINGTON.
